The River

The River's rush feels deeper
Through misty winter breath
Sheets of silver raindrops
Shroud an empty swirling nest

Flowing, always-flowing
The river spends its life
Deftly sorting gravels
Smoothing stones through the night

River, ever-flowing
Along its ancient course
Wearing through a landscape
That Holds the river's source

The river streaming endless
Will never hesitate
It's water flowing forward
Has forgotten where it raced
